Ya¡¯an¡ª¡°Stone Kingdom¡±

Ya¡¯an city locates between Qionghai range and Daxue range which in the west of Sichuan basin and in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecotone, with Chengdu city and Meishan area at its east, Ganzi state at its west, Liangshan state at its south and Aba state at its north. It enjoys beautiful scenery and has abundant natural and manmade landscape and cultural resources. Named ¡°Hometown of Panda¡±, it is where the first panda was found and named. The number and density of wild pandas is the most in the world.
 
Ya¡¯an is famous for its stone that¡¯s why it gets a name of ¡°Stone Kingdom¡±. There are six towns having abundant resources of marble and granite whose total industry reserves have reached more than 4 billion cubic meters. Stone takes up 10% of national output. It has various kinds of good quality stone (more than 50 kinds) in red, white, black, green and grey. China Red, Santai Red, XIngjing Red granite and Shubaiyu Marble are famous at home and abroad. Ya¡¯an city has become one of national important stone cities.
 
There is also the longest White Marble bridge in China. The Qingyijiang Bridge is 415 meter long, 28.5 meter wide whose railings are used White Marble of Baoxing town. Till now, it is the longest White Marble bridge in China.
 
It is said that Qingyijiang Bridge is a two-way expressway with 3 lanes each having been invested around 3.8 million RMB. In order to fully show the style of Ya¡¯an city landscape, all railings of the bridge are used White Marble of Baoxing town. There are 2 group 10 pictures on the railings. The picture Spring Orchid in Rain (represents spring), Panda and Bamboo (represents summer), Walking in Chrysanthemum (represents autumn) and Beautiful Plum(represents winter) in a group means that Ya¡¯an is the hometown of Panda. The other group of pictures includes A Kiss of Thousand Years, Stone Sculpture in Donghan Dynasty, etc. showing the long history and culture of Han Dynasty, etc. showing the long history and culture of Han Dynasty in Ya¡¯an city.
